Bio

Persian physician and philosopher whose Canon of Medicine synthesised Greek, Persian and Arabic medical knowledge and served as a standard reference in Europe and the Islamic world into the seventeenth century. His Book of Healing covered logic, natural science and metaphysics, and his arguments on existence and the soul influenced later Islamic, Jewish and Christian philosophy.
