Bio
German-born theoretical physicist who published the special theory of relativity in 1905 and the general theory of relativity in 1915, reshaping the understanding of space, time and gravitation. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect. He emigrated to the United States in 1933 and spent his later career at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
