Bio
Indian mathematician with almost no formal training in pure mathematics who produced thousands of original results in number theory, infinite series, continued fractions and partitions. Invited to Cambridge by G. H. Hardy in 1914, he published jointly during a five-year collaboration before ill health forced his return to India. His notebooks continued to generate new mathematics long after his death at 32.
